Support our Cause

Our concept is simple: to bring a little joy to underprivileged children, while at the same time teaching HK school children about poverty and the benefits of gift giving.

Each year school children, businesses and the local community come together to donate boxes filled with essential, fun, and active items, to give to a child that would not normally receive a gift over the festive period.

We work in collaboration with local, and some overseas charities to support the children and families who receive the boxes.

We are are grateful for the support of  a local network of distribution and logistics companies who enable the boxes to reach their recipients.

None of what we do would be possible without the support of our volunteers, schools and sponsors who support us both financially and in kind.

How your Box Makes an Impact

We know from our partnerships with the charities that the work we do makes a difference.  The children feel respected, included, grateful, for being thought of by their local community.  Receiving the boxes and sharing the contents with their friends and siblings, brings them a little joy.

why box of hope?

My five years at the helm of Box of Hope have been both rewarding and humbling.   It’s been rewarding to watch Box of Hope continuing to bring a little joy to so many underprivileged children.  I am very lucky to work with a passionate team who is committed to our success. It is also humbling to watch so many sectors of Hong Kong community come together so generously. Our aim for the future is to make Box of Hope sustainable on all levels and to continue to share our privilege, with those who deserve it the most.

Financial Reports and Impact Statement

We strive to be as financially transparent as possible.  As an NGO, our survival exists upon the generosity of our sponsors, donations in kind and financial donations from the public.

Words Of Support From Those That Get Involved

Volunteering with Box of Hope in checking the box content was a great experience.  It was wonderful to see the array of box content and the efforts that some children had gone to with decorating their boxes for the children who will receive them.  I’m definitely signing up again in 2022.”

Meredith, Box Packing Volunteer
“Box of Hope is super important because a lot of kids around the world don’t get presents for Christmas and their birthdays. So spending a tiny part of your weekend shopping for kids and putting a smile on their faces is really fun.”

Jonah Shepherd, age 11
Hong Kong school student
